The pandemic period shook the whole world and caused many people to be unemployed. However, some people turned the crisis that occurred during the pandemic period into an opportunity. According to the research conducted by George Washington University Economist Steven Hamilton, the pandemic period has created new job opportunities. Some of the new professions that emerged according to the research were Traveling Hairdressers, Personal Trainer at Home and Boutique Mask Designers.

Yoga Instructor Marina Yıldırım, who is a Personal Trainer at Home with Pandemic, said that with the pandemic, those who want to take lessons at home are increasing and they go to at least 3 or 4 lessons every day. Yıldırım said, “Gyms were closed due to the restrictions during the pandemic period. For this reason, she mutated in coaching. My profession is the same, only my application area has changed. I started teaching at home with the pandemic. We stayed at homes for a long time and people started doing sports at home. When the pandemic process was prolonged, he applied to us to increase motivation. I, too, now give my lessons at home upon request. I take care not to contact my student during the lecture. Pricing has increased by 20 percent compared to gyms. I get 200 - 300 TL per lesson.” dedi.

Stating that citizens usually call home for a haircut, Visiting Barber Serkan Özkanlı said, “During the pandemic period, my profession began to evolve into Visiting Hairdresser. I especially provide hairdressing services to our citizens aged 65 and over who cannot leave their homes. Compared to previous years, the rate of home service for our citizens has increased by 30 percent. While I cut hair and beard for 90 TL in my hair salon, I cut it for 130 TL at home. I never take off my mask while we are at home and I wash my hands frequently.”
 
“EVERY CRISIS BRINGS SOME OPPORTUNITIES”
 
Asst. Prof. Dr. Fırat Demirkol, a faculty member at Istanbul Gelisim University, said that the pandemic period changed the economic and social conditions in our country as well as in the whole world and said: “For many people, this situation is perceived as a crisis. However, every crisis creates new opportunities within itself. In this sense, there were also those who considered the pandemic period as a new opportunity for some sectors. Especially in terms of consumption, we see that the habits of people continue to a certain extent during the pandemic period. For example, we have a mask reality that comes into our lives and is with us. In this sense, while people are making an effort to find masks at first, after a while we see that they try to make these masks suitable for their clothes, bags and accessories. Custom mask designers have emerged in this area, too. Personalized mask design has also begun to appear as a new job opportunity. Basically, every crisis creates some opportunities within itself. Individuals or institutions that follow these opportunities well and can quickly adapt to changes are least affected by these crises. In fact, it is not affected at all and on the contrary, it can continue on its way by enlarging its business.”
 
“PERSONAL TRAINERS AT HOME IN THE PANDEMIC PERIOD”
 
Stating that the coronavirus epidemic affected our social life, Demirkol said: “Many people lost their chance to do sports in public areas while living together with sports. However, the long pandemic period made people feel the need to return to those healthy days again. At this point, personal coaches at home started to come to the fore. During this period, especially the food issue moved to our homes. As you know, the experiences of making bread in our homes have begun to emerge. Here, besides cooking techniques and methods, how to store food became a matter of curiosity and various courses began to emerge. This situation has created new job opportunities for people in certain sectors.”
 
“ALTERNATIVE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES EMERGED”
 
Stating that professions or institutions that have difficulty in developing themselves at the point of online trade will have difficulties in post-pandemic periods, Demirkol continued his words as follows:
“In the researches, we see that a sector called Visiting Hairdressers has emerged. We know that alternative service methods have emerged to meet people's personal care needs. We can predict that professions that are not intertwined with the Internet and do not benefit from the benefits of technology will have difficulties after the pandemic. Because now there are serious changes. For example, the use of masks will remain in our lives for a certain period of time after the pandemic. Maybe it will become a habit for some of us. At this point, it will be important to combine these designs with technology as well as those who make personal custom designs.”
 
“I FIND VERY CREATIVE THE NEW OCCUPATIONS EMERGED DURING THE PANDEMICS”
 
Stating that people started looking for alternative ways to earn money, citizen Furkan Yılmaz said: “I find these professions that emerged during the pandemic period very creative. Someone has to win while someone is losing somewhere." Fatih Aydın said: “Until now, I only heard of a profession called Mask Designer. But I am positive about the emergence of new job opportunities during the pandemic period.”
