The festival to pave the way for the short film industry starts

The launch of Tayf International Short Film Festival was held with the participation of masters. Organized by Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, the festival aims to increase the visibility of short films, which are the building blocks of the art of cinema, by encouraging art lovers.

The launch of Tayf International Short Film Festival, which is open to all international and national participants, was held at Üsküdar Municipality Bağlarbaşı Congress and Culture Center with Festival Director Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, Festival Director Nagihan Çakar Bikiç, Festival Coordinator Emre Doğan and Festival Media and Communications Coordinator Saygı Ünlü. At the festival organized by Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, a total of twelve awards in four different categories will be given, and a film determined by the jury will be awarded the "Digital Film Academy Special Award". The festival, whose jury includes master filmmakers and actors such as Derviş Zaim, Ercan Kesal, Bade İşil and Yüksel Aksu, will be held for the first time this year.

“FESTIVAL GATHERS ARTISTS AND FILM LOVERS”

Expressing that they will host an international festival, Festival President and Dean of Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp says, “The TAYF Film Festival is a festival that brings Turkey's most important artists and cinema lovers together. Along with the short film competition, the festival also includes our organizations and workshops. The short film competition, which we will hold in four categories, is very important for us in order to discover new filmmakers.”

“WE HAVE RECEIVED NEARLY 3,000 APPLICATIONS”

Noting that the festival will receive 12 awards in four categories, Festival Director Nagihan Çakar Bikiç says, “We will give a monetary award of 40 thousand TL in the fields of fiction, animation, documentary and experimental. In addition, a film to be determined by the jury will be awarded the "Digital Film Academy Special Award". The number of films that applied to our festival has exceeded 2,900. There are participants from many different countries. Films from countries such as Iran, America, England and India continue to arrive. As of January 28, we will announce the final films. We will have workshops and masterclasses between 24 - 26 February 2022. On February 27, we will announce the winners with a magnificent gala and deliver their awards.”

"YOUNGSTERS OWN THE FUTURE"

Chairman of the Jury Cemal Okan mentions that it is very important to give opportunities to young people and says, “I attach great importance to such activities since I see our future in young people. Very important directors became popular with their short films. The short film is the beginning of the feature length. I believe that if the right thing is done on this road, it will be much more comfortable on a long journey. I always support these kinds of events in order to pave the way for young people.”
