İstanbul Gelişim University, which strengthens its understanding of social responsibility not only through academic achievement but also through social solidarity projects, continues to touch society through its students' volunteer-based work. One of the most meaningful examples of these initiatives, which prioritize young people's development in humanitarian and moral values as well as their professional growth, was the "Hatay Children's Festival" project carried out in Hatay.

Moral Support for Children in the Earthquake Zone from IGU

The "Hatay Children's Festival," launched as a project by students under the advisorship of Assoc. Prof. Sarp Bağcan from the Public Relations and Promotion Department of IGU's Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences (FEASS), quickly transformed into a major solidarity movement with the participation of students from different departments of the university, student clubs, and volunteer young people.
Colorful activities were organized for children at the event held at Beyhan Gençay Secondary School in the container settlement in Hatay, with the aim of providing moral support and a sense of hope to children living through difficult conditions in the aftermath of the earthquake. The joy of the children, who participated in fun games, a concert and theater performance, various activities, face painting, and social interaction, was the most meaningful outcome of the festival.

"We Have Not Forgotten the Earthquake, the Children, or the Teachers"

The project drew attention not only to the children but also to the teachers continuing their duties in the earthquake zone with great dedication. Volunteer students who attended the event emphasized that the children and teachers trying to sustain educational life in the region after the great disaster must not be forgotten.
Coming together with children who are trying to maintain their hope despite the severe conditions created by the earthquake, the students underscored that social responsibility is not merely a project, it is a human obligation. While the events organized aimed to bring even brief moments of joy into the children's daily lives, a strong emphasis was also placed on the importance of the spirit of solidarity.

Support from Avcılar Municipality for the Project

Avcılar Municipality also provided support to the Hatay Children's Festival project. The organization, realized in collaboration with local government, showed how solidarity can grow through the contributions of different institutions. With the support provided, the scope of the event was expanded and a more comprehensive and productive event was held for the children.

A Culture of Social Responsibility Grows Stronger at IGU

İstanbul Gelişim University, which stands out not only for academic achievement but also for work that produces societal benefit, continues to prepare its students for the future as individuals sensitive to society, alongside their professional life. Social responsibility projects carried out within the university contribute to young people's development of empathy, solidarity, and a spirit of volunteerism, while ensuring that the initiatives that bring hope to different segments of society continue to grow.
This meaningful project carried out in Hatay once again showed that when young people come together, they can produce not only events, but also hope, solidarity, and goodness.
