Gelişim's History
İstanbul Gelişim University traces its origins to 2008, when its founding body, the Gelişim Education, Culture, Health, and Social Services Foundation, set out to establish a vocational school under the name İstanbul Gelişim Vocational School.
Following the Ministry of National Education's letter dated July 8, 2008 (no. 17261), the Vocational School was formally established by the Council of Ministers on July 14, 2008, under Additional Article 2 of Law No. 2547, and began instruction that same year. İstanbul Gelişim University itself was established under Law No. 6114, dated February 17, 2011. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, it carries out its academic activities through seven faculties, one school, two vocational schools, and the Graduate Education Institute.
Guided by a commitment to development in every field that Türkiye and the world need, the University has graduated 57,156 students to date, each trained to lead in line with the standards of its accreditations. Working in partnership with more than 130 universities worldwide, İstanbul Gelişim University also encourages its associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students to pursue an international academic path.
