Life-Saving Education from Istanbul Gelisim University!

Under the leadership of the Disaster and Emergency Coordination Office, Istanbul Gelisim University hosted the "Disaster Awareness Training for Individuals and Families", which aims to increase individual and social awareness against disasters. The event, which took place in the Tusi Conference Hall, was organized as a wide participation program covering both academic and administrative staff and students.

The training, in which İbrahim Topal, Disaster Management and Search and Rescue Manager of the Deniz Feneri Association, took part as a speaker, was organized interactively in two separate sessions. Sessions with the same content were planned in different time periods according to the intensity of the participants.

“Disaster awareness saves lives”

In his speech, Topal drew attention to the importance of individual preparedness and social solidarity against disasters and emphasized that having accurate information in the face of natural and human-induced disasters such as earthquakes, floods and fires minimizes loss of life and property. Training includes the measures that can be taken before the disaster, the right behaviors at the time of the disaster and the post-disaster recovery processes were discussed in detail.

A university community empowered by knowledge

With the training, it was aimed to increase the awareness of the participants about disasters, to develop their ability to make fast and accurate decisions in times of crisis, and to strengthen social solidarity after the disaster.
