Valuable works met with visitors at the “Harmony Exhibition”!

The opening ceremony of the "Academician Artists Harmony Exhibition", consisting of works by IGU Vocational School academicians, was held at Istanbul Gelisim University Gelisim Art Gallery. The curator of the exhibition, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gunay, stated that distinguished works created within the scope of Sustainable Development Goals were included.

In the exhibition, which includes 33 works in total, different disciplines of the field of "Fine Arts" are mentioned. Works of art by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gunay, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuran Ozturk, Lect. Atif Serdar Demirci, Lect. Mehmet Ogut, Lect. Murat Karaova, Lect. Omer Faruk Soyler, Lect. Sultan Cetinkaya, Lect. Serif Pinar Tuncok and Lect. Tarik Babayigit, can be visited until January 9th. The clothing designs for children with Down Syndrome, made by Lect. Sultan Cetinkaya as part of a social responsibility project, and the series that Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gunay reinterpreted famous works of art and adapted to the advertising concept, attracted great attention from the visitors.

“ARTIST IS THE BUILDING STONE OF A NATION”

Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Sahin, who attended the opening ceremony, stated: “The artist is the building stone of a nation. Civilization is built on three things: artistic innovation, social innovation, and technical innovation. There is no civilization without art. In my 42-year academic and 33-year managerial life, I have always made positive discrimination towards art. My dream is to bring technical, social and art scientists together around big projects. Hopefully, we will implement this model at Istanbul Gelisim University. It is very significant for us to look from the perspective of the artist. The term 'sustainability' has been used a lot lately. I believe that artists will contribute greatly to this issue. It is very crucial to highlight this in these exhibitions as well.”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gunay, Curator of the exhibition, said: “Since 2018, Gelisim Art Gallery has been hosting valuable works of art. In order to make our art gallery more active, we made our planning for the 2022-2023 academic year under the leadership of Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Sukran Guzin Ilıcak Aydınalp and together with Prof. Dr. Ismet Cavusoglu. Every month, we bring the works of our artists together with you here. The Rector of our university, Prof. Dr. Bahri Sahin, has always been with us in all the art activities we have held here since the beginning of the year. This shows how much he values art and the artist.”
