8.188 Students Graduated From Istanbul Gelisim University

The 2021-2022 Istanbul Gelisim University graduation ceremony was held for the first time after the pandemic, with all students and their families brought together. During the two-day ceremony, 8,188 students graduated from undergraduate and associate degree programs.

This year's graduation ceremony—the first step for thousands of young people to enter business life—was held for the 13th time. Students from Istanbul Gelisim University graduated with ceremonies held at the Yahya Kemal Beyatli Conference Hall on June 21 and 22, 2022, after finishing their education and training with the knowledge and skills of the 21st century.

“BE AN EMPLOYER, NOT A JOB SEEKER”

The graduation ceremony started with the opening speeches of Abdülkadir Gayretli, Istanbul Gelisim University Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin. Emphasizing that IGU students add value to Turkey, Gayretli continued his words as follows:
“We, as Istanbul Gelisim University, are a family. Just like in the family, we are always with you. We say to be an employer, not a job seeker. We support our students who want to set up their own businesses in many areas such as providing them with office furniture. In order for you to graduate equipped with the skills and competencies of the 21st century, we both support foreign language course fees in our undergraduate and associate degree departments and provide career opportunities within our university with the "New Graduate Development Program". Turkey will be led by individuals like you. When you graduate and start your business life today, some of you will be the governor or some of you will be the manager of your own work that will contribute to the economy of this country. That is why you should never neglect to be ‘Open to Development.”

Gayretli emphasized that IGU was once again chosen as the first in Turkey for the Times Higher Education (THE) Quality Education category and highlighted that they would keep providing young people with high-quality education.

 “WE ARE AT THE TOP OF THE STATE AND FOUNDATION UNIVERSITIES WITH OUR ACCREDITED PROGRAMS!”

Referring to the developments and progress made by Istanbul Gelisim University in its 14-year educational background, Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin stated the following:

“We are here today for the 13th Graduation Ceremony. Istanbul Gelisim University is at the top of internationalization with its 5 thousand international students. IGU is a university that gives importance to research as well as education and training. Our primary goal as a university will be to serve our country as a research university. Today, 8 thousand of our undergraduate and associate degree students received their diplomas. We are confident that our students will reflect the theoretical and practical knowledge they have acquired at our university into practice in the international arena. Our success is limited to the success of our students. Our students start a new life today. The biggest advice I can give them is that ‘Knowledge becomes old quickly, however, innovations evolve even faster than knowledge.’’ Therefore, do not be limited to the knowledge you have acquired. If you want to stay young professionally, follow the innovations and never forget to be innovative.''
 
 
Bahri Şahin also stated that 60% of the programs at Istanbul Gelisim University are accredited. With the number of accredited programs of IGU, it is in the top ranks among state and foundation universities. Our next goal is to create technical, artistic and social innovations.  With its research and technology centers, IGU aims to surpass other foundation universities and maintain its 22 application research centers.
