An event was organized in Bilecik on December 3rd to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. An AI-powered virtual poster exhibition with audio descriptions, prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer and third-year students from the Department of Graphic Design at Istanbul Gelisim University's Faculty of Fine Arts, was showcased at the Bilecik Engelsiz Yarinlar Foundation (BIEYDER) building.
The exhibition emphasized the importance of solidarity and the integration of individuals with disabilities into society, delivering the message, "We Are Strong with Our Differences." This unique exhibition, featuring audio descriptions, allowed visually impaired individuals to experience the event fully. BIEYDER President Esra Gecim highlighted that the exhibition enhanced accessibility and offered an innovative experience for individuals with disabilities.
Chairperson of the City Council Disability Assembly, Ciler Kocaman, stated that the event was significant in demonstrating the presence of persons with disabilities in the fields of art and technology. Kocaman noted that the exhibition not only raised awareness but also showcased the achievements and potential of individuals with disabilities in these areas.
Don’t Create Obstacles, Promote Awareness!
As part of the events, the Bilecik City Council Disability Assembly launched an awareness campaign under the slogan, "Don’t Create Obstacles, Promote Awareness!" Additionally, during a ceremony held at Cumhuriyet Square, President of Engelsizim Yasam ve Yardimlasma Foundation, Halit Altintas, laid a wreath at the Ataturk Monument, emphasizing their continued efforts to address the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence, the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, and a group photo session.
