Assoc. Prof. Metin Kuş's "Katmanlar" Exhibition Opens at Gelisim Art Gallery

Within the scope of Istanbul Gelisim University Satmer Art Events, Gelisim Art Gallery hosts a striking exhibition this week. Assoc. Prof. Metin Kuş's solo exhibition titled "Katmanlar", which consists of his recent works, met with art lovers with intense participation. IGU Rector Prof. Bahri ŞAHİN and SATMER Director Asst. Prof. Mustafa Günay also participated in the exhibition.

The selection, whose main theme is "crowds" and consisting of a total of 30 works, invited the participants to an intellectual journey with layered narrative language. The compositions of the artist Metin Kuş, who carried the very meaningfulness of daily life and the diversity of perception to the canvas through overlapping, intertwined abstract layers, attracted attention in terms of both technical mastery and emotional intensity.

"The bond established by our university with art continues to be strengthened"

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin emphasized the place of art in university culture and said:
“We open a new exhibition every week and we are very happy about it. The bond established by our university with art continues to be strengthened. We established an art center like SATMER, which is a first in Turkey. This area is open not only to Istanbul Gelisim University, but to the entire art community. We will continue to host our artist professors from other universities here. ”

Evaluating the artist's work, Asst. Prof. Ahmet Özel said, "There is a great line consistency, composition competence and a deep art history awareness in his works. Assoc. Prof. Metin Kuş successfully represents the theme of ‘Katmanlar’ not only formally but also conceptually in this exhibition.''

“I use crowds to reach plastic values”

Addressing the crowds not only as a theme, but also as a means of expression, Assoc. Prof. Metin Kuş said, "I always attach importance to plastic values in my art, I use crowds to reach these values. I care about the human figure and pattern, because they form the construction of my painting.''

The "Katmanlar" exhibition invites the audience to think deeply with both their search for artistic meaning and the interpretations they bring to the sociocultural fabric of Istanbul.
