Under the leadership of Istanbul Gelisim University, training was given to doctors, teachers, police and psychological counselors working in Uşak to raise awareness about child abuse. In the seminar given by Dr. Bülent Tansel, the importance of sexuality education given to children at a young age was mentioned.
The "Psycho-social approaches in child sexual abuse" seminar, which was realized with the partnership of Istanbul Gelisim University and Usak Provincial Directorate of National Education and will last for 3 days, started on 14 December. The seminar, whose date was predetermined, took place at the Uşak Imam Hatip Secondary School Conference Hall. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arda Ozturkcan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University, IGU Dean of Students Office Asst. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Halil Yaşar and many doctors, teachers, police officers and psychological counselors attended the seminar held at the Usak Imam Hatip Secondary School Conference Hall.
Dr. Bülent Tansel, who made a statement to the participants in the conference hall before the training, stated that the subject is a dramatic one and should be explained best without boring the participants.
Making special statements to the İhlas News Agency (IHA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arda Ozturkcan, Vice Dean of Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences indicated after the seminars that will last for 2 more days, they will be with the school principals one day and that they are always open to training invitations from all Provincial Education Directorates. Prof. Dr. Ozturkcan: “When students first start their education life, that is, when they leave their families for the first time, the people they encounter are their teachers. Hence, to increase awareness on the subject, our university conducts very serious studies and continues its work by bringing together teachers, academicians and students.”
Continuing his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ozturkcan also indicated the following: “We are rapidly progressing towards becoming an international university and we want to increase the number of such trainings. As a university, we have started to accredit our programs since 2018. Currently, we have reached 65 programs with internationally accreditated. At the same time, according to the ranking made by Times Higher Education (THE), we ranked 1st in Turkey in the "Qualified Education" category. We want to increase the number of these trainings within the scope of service to society and increase our cooperation with our teachers, universities and industry.”
