IGU Student Ahmet Yağan Claims Silver at European Wrestling Championship

Ahmet Yağan, a student in the Exercise and Sport Sciences Department of Faculty of Sport Sciences, Istanbul Gelisim University, achieved a remarkable result at the U23 European Wrestling Championship held in Serbia. Competing in the freestyle 86 kg category, the national athlete finished the tournament as the European runner-up, claiming the silver medal.

A Strong Run to the Final

Ahmet Yağan put in an impressive performance throughout the championship, defeating Belarusian opponent Artsiom Belavusau 3-2 in the opening round and Moldovan Marius Retcoy 8-1 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. Overcoming Ukraine's Artur Kostiuk 4-2 in the semifinal, Yağan earned his place in the final with a display of strong determination.

A Significant Achievement on the International Stage

Finishing the tournament with a silver medal, Ahmet Yağan represented both Türkiye and Istanbul Gelisim University with distinction on the international stage. Through his performance at the European championship, the national athlete once again proved his place among the most promising names in Turkish wrestling.
