Istanbul Gelisim University Represents Türkiye at APAIE 2026

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) participated for the first time in the APAIE 2026 International Education Fair, held in Hong Kong from February 24-26, 2026, one of the most prestigious international higher education events in the Asia-Pacific region. IGU was represented at the fair by a delegation comprising Vice Rector for Research and Development Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı, Vice Rector for Education, Training, and Planning Prof. Nuri Kuruoğlu, International Exchange and Cooperation Office (IECO) Director Alisa Usubova, and IECO Assistant Specialist Yaren Ergenç. Over the course of the four-day event, the university delegation held one-on-one meetings with approximately 60 universities. Discussions covered topics including student and academic exchanges under the Erasmus+ program, bilateral cooperation agreements, joint research projects, double degree opportunities, and short-term academic programs.

From EAIE to APAIE: A Continuing Partnership

Following an initial contact made at the EAIE 2025 Conference in Sweden (September 9-12, 2025) between IGU IECO Director Alisa Usubova and Walter Smith, Associate Director, and David McGuire, Vice President, of the International Office at University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) in Canada, a formal bilateral cooperation agreement was signed with UFV during APAIE 2026, covering student and academic exchanges, bilateral cooperation programs, joint research projects, and double degree opportunities.

For Istanbul Gelisim University, APAIE 2026 proved to be a highly productive event, not only as a platform for promotion and networking, but as a significant opportunity to enhance international academic visibility, forge strategic partnerships, and strengthen the university's competitive standing in the global education arena.

Throughout the fair, the delegation provided detailed information about IGU's academic programs, research activities, internationalization strategy, and student opportunities, and expressed its gratitude to the Turkish National Agency for its support.
