IGU Students and Academics Visit TARSİM
Bekir Engürülü, TARSİM Board of Directors Member and General Manager of the Agricultural Insurance Pool Administration, and his delegation, hosted Assoc. Prof. Hakan Özcan — Chair of the Banking and Insurance Department of İstanbul Gelisim University's Faculty of Applied Sciences and Chair of the General Insurers Association (GESİD) Board of Directors — and Banking and Insurance Department students at the TARSİM General Directorate.As part of the visit, students had the opportunity to come together with industry representatives and learn about current developments in the field of agricultural insurance.
Effects of Climate Change on Insurance Assessed within TÜBİTAK Project
At the meeting, the TÜBİTAK project titled "A Study on the Impact of Climate Changes in Our Country on TARSİM Insurance," conducted by Assoc. Prof. Hakan Özcan and students, was presented.Within the scope of the project, the effects on the agricultural sector and agricultural insurance of extreme weather events increasing in connection with the climate crisis were discussed, and assessments on potential future risks were shared. At the meeting — which brought academic work together with the sector's needs — students also shared their experiences regarding the research process.
The Strategic Importance of Agricultural Insurance Emphasized
TARSİM Board of Directors Member and General Manager Bekir Engürülü drew attention to the effects of climate change and natural disasters on agricultural production and noted that agricultural insurance plays a critical role in ensuring sustainable production.Engürülü also provided participants with comprehensive information on TARSİM's structure, operation, and practices, while noting that academic research conducted by universities makes important contributions to the development of agricultural insurance.

At the close of the visit, Assoc.
