As part of the academic visit, Subaşı will have the opportunity to develop her research on media, war, security, and political imagination in an international academic environment.
During the academic visit to Brunel University London, which will take place from September 14, 2026 to June 14, 2027, Asst. Prof. Selda Tunç Subaşı will continue her research hosted by Prof. Mark Neocleous, one of the leading figures in the field of critical security studies. Through the academic visit, the goals are to develop international collaborations and to transfer the scientific knowledge gained into education and research activities at Istanbul Gelişim University.

TV Series Adapted from Video Games to Be Examined from a Critical Perspective

The research will address how war, security, the body, fear, and political imagination are represented in TV series adapted from video games. The study will assess in particular how discourses of crisis, threat, survival, and social order are constructed within media narratives, from the perspectives of critical media and critical security studies. The research is intended to be published in academic journals indexed in international databases and to lay the groundwork for new scientific collaborations.

Will Contribute to International Academic Collaborations

During the visit, in addition to the theoretical and methodological development of the research, participation in academic meetings, seminars, and scientific events will take place. The goals also include converting the research findings into international publications and developing new joint project opportunities. This process is expected to strengthen Istanbul Gelisim University's relationships with academic networks in England, increase its international visibility, and contribute to sustainable scientific collaborations.

"An Important Step for International Scientific Collaborations"

Sharing her assessments of the academic visit, Asst. Prof. Selda Tunç Subaşı stated: "This visit will allow me to deepen my research through an interdisciplinary perspective by experiencing different academic approaches firsthand. I believe the scientific contacts to be established will contribute not only to the current study, but also to joint publications and projects to be developed in the future. The aim is for this process to support the building of lasting ties between Istanbul Gelişim University and academic circles in England."
The academic visit to be carried out at Brunel University London is intended not only to convert the research outputs into international scientific publications, but also to strengthen Istanbul Gelişim University's global academic network.
