Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School (İGMYO) has updated its curricula with an innovative educational approach that responds to the needs of the changing business world. In the new educational structure, developed in line with the IGU L2E (Learning to Earning) model and shaped by the "Learn2EarnGelişim" approach, the micro-credential modules created were prepared with reference to the World Economic Forum's (WEF) 2026 projections on the future workforce and skills transformation.
Implemented as one of the most comprehensive micro-credential module applications at the vocational school level in Türkiye, this structure aims for students to gain competencies not only in professional knowledge, but also in the fields coming to the fore in the working life of the future, such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainability, data analytics, and next-generation technologies. Students who successfully complete the micro-credential modules will also have the opportunity to document them with a certificate, in addition to their diplomas, after graduation.
Education Aligned with the Professions of the Future
Under the new curriculum, the modules prepared specifically for each program cover the current competencies the sector needs, appropriate to the relevant program's field of study. Supported by required and elective courses, the modules offer a holistic educational model in which students can translate their theoretical knowledge into practice.
"Our Goal Is to Raise Individuals Ready for Employment"
Sharing his assessments of the new educational model, Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Soyal stated: "The rapidly changing expectations of the business world necessitate a new approach in higher education as well. As Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School, we have restructured our curricula in line with the sector's expectations and projections for the workforce of the future. Thanks to the micro-credential modules we have implemented, our students will be able to earn additional certificates documenting the current competencies the sector needs, alongside their diplomas. Our goal is not merely to graduate our students, but to prepare them for the future as individuals who can adapt rapidly to change, document their competencies, and stand ready for employment."
A Future-Focused Transformation across All Programs
The micro-credential modules prepared for numerous programs within İGMYO cover a wide range, from IT to aviation, from gastronomy to design, from logistics to machine technologies. Each program has been structured to support students in gaining a competitive advantage after graduation. This transformation strengthens Istanbul Gelisim University's vision of applied education and quality employment-focused training, while aiming for students to begin their careers better equipped.
