Academia and Industry Together: IGU Delegation Visits Balparmak

Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) paid a technical visit to Balparmak, one of the leading organizations in the gastronomy world, in order to crown the education protocol signed between the two institutions with academic projects. The delegation, consisting of IGU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Prof. Aslı Albayrak, and Asst. Prof. Mehtap Çerkez Uçar, evaluated joint R&D activities and upcoming-term events during the visit.

Academic Collaboration Activities Discussed

Following the earlier hosting of Balparmak representatives at Istanbul Gelisim University, the visit was carried out upon the company’s invitation. During the meetings, joint academic projects in the field of gastronomy, practical studies, and event plans were discussed. Topics aimed at developing sustainable university–industry collaboration were also evaluated.
As part of the program, the R&D centers operating within Balparmak were visited. The delegation received information about the company’s research and development activities, product development processes, and quality-oriented practices.

Education–Industry Collaboration Is Strengthening

The visit, carried out in line with the previously signed education-focused cooperation protocol between Istanbul Gelisim University and Balparmak, is expected to contribute to increasing academic studies and sectoral interaction in the field of gastronomy.
