At the II. International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival Conference held in Diyarbakır awards were given to the films that made it to the finals. The festival, which was held for the second time this year, received applications for 3 thousand 64 films from 116 countries. After nine months, the finalists have been announced. The final 24 films were shown for two days and interviews were held. Immediately after the interviews held between 2-3 November, speeches were made after the silence and the National Anthem. Then, the top three films were shown and plaques were presented.
Participating in the festival as a stakeholder institution, Istanbul Gelisim University Vice Rector Prof. S. Arda Öztürkcan said that last year, nearly a thousand short films from 64 countries participated in the festival, which they organized for the second time this year, and this year, the number of films participating increased considerably and there were a total of 3 thousand 64 films from 116 countries.
Stating that the finals started on 2-3 November, Öztürkcan also added, "We have determined our jury members from 12 universities. We are now on the day when we will determine the finalists and end the final events before the final and award ceremony. We want to improve this. With the 3rd one next year, we want to move to the provinces and cinema lovers in Diyarbakır and around. We want to complete the final by creating a working environment where universities can produce more value in serving society and try to spread it.”
Vice President of Corporate Communication and Promotion Department and Festival Director Lecturer Ahmet Bikiç reminded that they made the second of the festival and stated that the finalists were determined after the 9-month film elimination.
Stating that the final 24 films were shown for two days, Bikiç said, "We have interviews with the screenings. An interview is held with the guests and sector representatives. We had actors come in yesterday. Then there were participants from television representatives. This festival is not only about film screening, but another purpose of the festival is to bring young filmmakers together with industry connoisseurs. Our goal is to bring them together here.”
