IGU Continues to Strengthen Erasmus+ Collaborations: A Comprehensive Visit from AYBU Delegation
Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) came together with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU), its Erasmus+ Consortium partner since 2019, within the framework of their ongoing collaboration. On April 8, 2026, the AYBU delegation carried out a comprehensive visit to IGU as part of the relevant project. The visit was regarded as an important step toward deepening the academic and institutional partnership between the two well-established institutions.
A Strong Step in the Internationalization Vision
The meeting was attended from Istanbul Gelisim University by Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin, Vice Rectors Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı, Prof. Nuri Kuruoğlu, and Prof. Seyfettin Arda Öztürkcan, along with International Exchange and Cooperation Office (IECO) Coordinator Alisa Usubova, IECO Specialist Mehmet Emir Çetinberk, and IECO Assistant Specialist Yaren Ergenç. From the AYBU delegation, AYBU Vice Rector Abdullah Yıldız, AYBU Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator Lecturer Dr. Burak Soyer, Specialist Asst. Prof. Aycan Gökçek, and Specialist Lecturer Dr. Oya Uslu Çetin took part.
At the meeting, the existing Erasmus+ consortium partnership was examined from multiple angles, with comprehensive discussions on making cooperation processes more effective and productive.
Joint Projects Discussed in IGU-AYBU Collaboration
Throughout the meeting, new areas of cooperation that the two universities could develop in line with their internationalization strategies were discussed. Topics including the diversification of academic partnerships, increasing interdisciplinary projects, and expanding international networks came to the fore, with mutual proposals shared for making more active and strategic use of the consortium structure.
Research Collaboration Deepens with TTO and SRPC Meetings
As part of the visit, the AYBU delegation met with the IGU Technology Transfer Office (TTO), receiving detailed information on university-industry partnerships, project development processes, and innovative activities.
In addition, meetings held with the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (SRPC) addressed research support mechanisms, project application processes, and practices aimed at increasing scientific output. These discussions laid an important foundation for the development of research-focused collaborations between the two institutions.
As part of the program, a comprehensive campus tour of IGU was organized for the AYBU delegation. The tour introduced educational, research, and social spaces, sharing detailed information about the university's strong physical infrastructure and academic facilities.
A Strong Message for Sustainable Partnerships
The visit once again demonstrated Istanbul Gelisim University’s vision of strengthening international collaborations, and was recorded as an important step toward advancing the existing partnership between the two institutions in a more effective, sustainable, and results-oriented manner. IGU continues with determination to expand its influence on a global scale through Erasmus+ projects and international collaborations.
