IGU TTO Strengthens R&D Collaborations with Visit to IDEF 2025
Istanbul Gelisim University Technology Transfer Office (IGU TTO) participated once again in the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair—an international hub for the defense sector—establishing strong connections with industry leaders.
IDEF 2025, one of Turkey’s largest defense industry events, was held in Istanbul with participation from 103 countries. Over 120,000 visitors attended the fair, which hosted 1,491 companies operating in defense, aerospace, security, maritime, and space industries. The event drew significant international attention, welcoming 231 official delegations and 937 foreign guests, with 20% of attendees coming from abroad.
State Support Highlighted in Opening Speeches
The opening speeches of IDEF 2025 were delivered by Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV) General Manager Bilal Topçu, President of Defense Industries Prof. Haluk Görgün, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. These speeches emphasized recent successes in the defense industry and underlined the strategic support of the state. During the fair, numerous ministers were observed visiting booths. The participant profile extended beyond defense to include diverse technology and R&D fields, forming a multifaceted collaboration platform.

At IDEF 2025, Istanbul Gelisim University Technology Transfer Office held productive meetings with defense and tech companies, presenting

IGU TTO distributed its brochure titled "Domestic Production with National Effort", showcasing academic inventions developed through national efforts within the university. Discussions also focused on patent commercialization and licensing processes.
Ongoing Collaboration Talks
As part of the fair, IGU TTO
reconnected with Volo, with whom prior meetings had been held, confirming continued cooperation on material development projects. Additionally, during a meeting with
Flexoil—in the context of fire prevention drone initiatives—both parties discussed designing a drone equipped with a
special fire-extinguishing fluid for effective forest fire intervention.
