Innovative Measurement System Developed for Subsonic Wind Tunnel at Istanbul Gelisim University

Studies conducted in the Subsonic Wind Tunnel within the Aerodynamics Research Laboratory of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) have opened the door to a new era in engineering research. Through an innovative project developed by the research team, 30-channel analog manometers were transformed into a fully digital system for the first time. This initiative aims to establish a high-tech measurement infrastructure that can be used in both academic research and industrial applications.

From Manual Measurement to Digital Transformation

While traditional methods require each channel to be read manually, the new system brings a radical change to this process. With a single camera and advanced image processing algorithms, all channels can be detected simultaneously. This innovation enables measurements to be carried out much faster, more reliably, and free from human error.

An Infrastructure Usable in Research and Industry

The project, both conceptually and technically, is being developed by Prof. Mahmut Adil Yükselen and the TTO team. Thanks to the direct transfer of measurement results to digital platforms, researchers will have instant access to data and the ability to monitor and report remotely. The new infrastructure is expected to provide a solution not only for laboratory settings but also for industrial applications.

Reliability and Efficiency in Aerodynamic Experiments

With this innovative approach, the reliability and efficiency of measurement data in aerodynamic experiments conducted in the Subsonic Wind Tunnel will significantly increase. The project also stands out as one of the pioneering steps taken by Istanbul Gelişim University towards digital transformation and Industry 4.0 compliance in engineering research.
