“THERE ARE NO CHANGES IN THE PERCENTAGE OF UNIONIZATION DESPITE CHANGES”
Basbug said in his paper that important legal changes were made in order to protect and guarantee trade union freedoms, but despite these changes there was no change in the rate of unionization, so the main problem was not to increase the guarantees, in addition to this, the protection and development of the right of collective bargaining was the problem.
Başbuğ also stated that, contract workers with more than one million employees in public workplaces couldn’t use the union rights, while the collective bargaining agreement has been developed and the with right to collective bargaining with the state accepting to pay the increase of wages, hundreds of thousands of people at a time can be unionized.
Başbuğ also stated that this situation is intertwined with union rights and collective bargaining rights. He presented concrete examples in his speech by claiming that there were many regulations in order to prevent collective bargaining in our legislation.
