Strategic Cooperation Between IGU and the Ministry of Industry and Technology: GBS Data Opens for Academic Research!

With the contribution of Research Assistant Cengizhan Güler from Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Department of International Trade and Finance (English), an important cooperation protocol has been signed between Istanbul Gelisim University and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology. Through this protocol, comprehensive and detailed data within the scope of the Entrepreneur Information System (GBS) have been made available for academic research. As a result, IGU academics have gained access to extensive economic and sectoral data on companies operating in Türkiye.

Comprehensive Data, Strong Research

The GBS platform provides up-to-date, detailed, and analytical data sets related to companies operating in the fields of industry, technology, trade, and finance. With this cooperation, Istanbul Gelisim University researchers have gained the opportunity to analyze the dynamics of the Turkish economy more deeply, develop data-driven policy recommendations in scientific research, and produce sectoral reports.

The successful completion of this process was made possible through the contributions of IGU Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin, IGU Vice Rector Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı, the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordination Office, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, and Research Assistant Cengizhan Güler. As a result of the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, IGU researchers have gained access to a strategic data infrastructure.

IGU’s Contribution to Scientific Production and National Development

This protocol supports IGU’s vision of “contributing to society through scientific production” and lays the groundwork for developing data-based approaches to Türkiye’s industrial and technological policies. Within this scope, IGU academics will be able to conduct innovative and sustainable research focusing on Türkiye’s economic ecosystem.
