Strong Contacts in the Field of Gastronomy: IGU Participated in HOSTECH by TUSID 2025 Fair!

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) continues to strengthen its sectoral ties by closely following the developments in the field of gastronomy and industrial culinary technologies. In this context, on the first day of the "HOSTECH by TUSİD – Hotel, Restaurant, Cafe, Patisserie Equipment and Technologies Fair" held at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center between 27-31 May 2025, IGU Gastronomy Departments Coordinator and Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli and IGU Lecturer İbrahim Levent Demirçakmak participated.

The Sector Gather Under the Same Roof

HOSTECH by TUSID, Turkey's largest and Europe's second largest hotel, restaurant, gastronomy and culinary technologies fair, gathered Horeca (Food ervice industry) professionals, manufacturers and academic representatives under the same roof this year. The fair, which showcased innovative technologies and advanced industrial solutions on a global scale, attracted a wide range of visitors, from hotel and hospitality professionals to patisserie operators, from laundry service providers to industrial kitchen managers. 
IGU Gastronomy Departments Coordinator and Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli and IGU Lecturer  İbrahim Levent Demirçakmak visited the booths of Öztiryakiler, ID Fine and Fırınmak companies within the scope of the fair and made direct contact with the leading companies of the sector. During the visits, both the current needs of the sector and how gastronomy education can be integrated into this dynamic structure were exchanged.
 

The Power of Hands-On Approach in Gastronomy Education

Istanbul Gelisim University's participation in the fair once again revealed the importance of conducting the applied education approach in direct connection with the sector. An understanding of education that progresses in coordination with industrial developments as well as theoretical knowledge in the field of gastronomy enables students to grow up as sector-ready individuals after graduation.
The connections established by IGU representatives in HOSTECH by TUSID 2025 not only strengthened existing collaborations, but also paved the way for future projects. These contacts are expected to be reflected in many areas such as student internships, joint R&D projects, seminars and technical trips.
This participation, which witnessed the technological and structural transformation of the Horeca (Food service industry) sector, is an important step supporting the visionary approach of Istanbul Gelisim University.
