Istanbul Gelisim University hosted the international art exhibition held in Targovishte, Bulgaria. At the invitation of the management of the Nikola Marinov State Art Gallery, ten art instructors from our university and six artists from Shumen University Bishop Konstantin of Preslav came together at the opening of the exhibition on October 17, 2024.
In the event held within the framework of the ERASMUS cooperation signed between the two universities in 2020, a total of 66 works of Turkish and Bulgarian artists were exhibited. While the main theme of the exhibition was determined as "Palitra", freelance works were also included in the foyer area. The opening took place in an enthusiastic atmosphere with the participation of the rectors of the universities, the Mayor of Targovishte Metropolitan Municipality, artists and art lovers.
At the opening, the Bulgarian Television Channel (BNT 1) team recorded the works in the exhibition. Interviews was conducted with the curators of the exhibition Prof. İsmet Çavuşoğlu and Prof. Dimitar Cholakov. Prof. Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance that Istanbul Gelisim University attaches to art and gave information about the contributions of the lecturers at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Rector of Shumen University Prof. Nataliya Vitanova said, “The organization of this exhibition enabled Turkish and Bulgarian artists to meet. I believe that our cooperation will continue.”
Istanbul Gelisim University Vice Rector Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı emphasized that art is one of the priority areas for Istanbul Gelisim University. He also stated that they positively discriminated against art by giving information about Gelisim Art Gallery and the newly opened Art and Design Application and Research Center (SATMER) . The exhibition will continue to meet art lovers for a month. The participating artists and their works attracted great attention from the audience. This successful international organization of the exhibition contributed to the strengthening of the cooperation between the two universities. Underlining the importance of art, Prof. Çavuşoğlu said, "There can be no civilization without art. Artists play a critical role in the progress of society.”
