Türkiye’s Technology Vision Converges at IGU: Visit to Istanbul Gelisim University by T3 Foundation Board Member and TEKNOFEST Secretary General Muham
Muhammet Saymaz, Board Member of the Türkiye Technology Team (T3) Foundation and Secretary General of TEKNOFEST, visited Istanbul Gelisim University to receive information about the university’s technology-oriented projects and strategic initiatives. During the meeting held as part of the visit, topics such as technology and technological developments, the projects carried out by the university, TEKNOFEST 2025 achievements, and potential areas of collaboration were discussed.
The meeting was attended by IGU Board of Trustees Chairman Abdülkadir Gayretli, IGU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Promotion Asst. Prof. Bülent Deyirmenci, and Faculty Member of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences Jumaev Ergash.
TEKNOFEST 2025 Achievements and R&D Projects Evaluated
The main agenda of the meeting focused on Istanbul Gelisim University’s achievements within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2025 and its impactful work in the field of technology. In addition to the university’s research and development activities, detailed information was shared on patenting processes and the commercialization of inventions carried out through the Technology Transfer Office (TTO). One of the most prominent topics of the meeting was the Jet Drone Project, which holds strategic importance in the fields of aviation and defense technologies and achieved first place at TUSAŞ. Comprehensive evaluations were made regarding the technical details of the project and new collaboration models that could be implemented in the future.
Strategic Steps in University–Industry Collaboration
The meeting also drew attention to Türkiye’s rising momentum in the defense industry and domestic technology production, emphasizing Istanbul Gelisim University’s academic and technical contributions to this process. While highlighting the added value that the university’s strong ties with industry bring to the national technology initiative vision, mutual goodwill messages were conveyed regarding the development of joint projects. IGU’s innovation-oriented working model and its mission to educate students as technology-producing individuals constituted one of the key focal points of the visit.
The meeting concluded with a mutual emphasis on goodwill aimed at strengthening university–industry collaboration and implementing joint projects.
