‘Communication and Sustainability’ met at ILETFEST2!

The Communication Festival, which was held for the second time at Istanbul Gelisim University, started with the theme "Communication and Sustainability: Shed Light for the Future". The festival, which was held with the participation of experts in the field of communication and sustainability and attracted great attention of students, will continue until May 24.

İLETFEST2, organized by the Public Relations and Advertising, Television Journalism and Programming, New Media and Communication Departments within the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University,  held with the participation of Abdulkadir Gayretli, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IGU, and Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin. ILETFEST2 will continue between 21-24 May.

On the first day of İLETFEST2, Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan, IGU Vice Rector for Quality, Accreditation and Internationalization, was one of the opening speakers. The panel was organized under the moderation of Dr. Atilla Girgin. IDA President Özge Uzun, TÜHİD President İpek Özgüden Özen, TGC Secretary General Sibel Güneş, Ratem President Aydın Şerbetçioğlu, CNN Regional Manager Nihat Uludağ and Sustainability Academy President Semra Sevinç took part in the panel.

''We aim to prepare students for their fields”

Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Applied Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Kamil Kaya made the following statements about the purpose of ILETFEST2:

 "We have 11 departments in our faculty, 3 of which are directly related to communication. Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Television Journalism and Programming, New Media and Communication. This is a festival organized jointly by our 3 departments. It will continue for 4 days. During the festival, experts in their fields will be present at our university, make criticisms and hold some workshops. We organized a full activity that will last for 4 days. We carry out such an activity to bring our students together with experts who are trained in their fields and to prepare them for their fields. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this event.

 ‘'They will find a field of application of theoretical knowledge''

 The coordinator of the organization where many events such as panels, workshops, interviews, exhibitions, film screenings will take place and the Head of the New Media and Communication Department of IGU Faculty of Applied Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şebnem Gürsoy Ulusoy said, "We organize academic events where theorists in the field of communication and many people in the field of practice meet. In this context, we aim to meet many participants from the sector and the association. We want our students to be able to find a field of application to their knowledge in the theoretical field they have learned in the lessons and to meet with people in the sector who have applied in this field.

"We want to raise awareness thanks to sustainability communication”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Koçak, from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, stated: "The purpose of choosing this theme is to raise awareness about the point of communication today and its dissemination to everyone through sustainability communication. For this awareness, we aimed to organize a panel by bringing together all the heads of non-governmental organizations and the media belonging to the communication sector. As a result of this panel, we wanted to present the necessary subheadings related to sustainability and communication to the public. I hope that our efforts to raise awareness in the field of communication and sustainability will reach its goal. We continue to move forward with this goal. Our university shows outstanding achievements in many fields related to both sustainability and the environment. We are willing to continue to work on communication that supports this. ”
