The closing and award ceremony was held at the 1st International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival, organized under the leadership of the Cinema Researchers Culture and Art Association, after a busy 3-day program.
The award ceremony of the International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival, which brings Turkey's culture and art city Diyarbakır together with the distinguished cinema works of the world and our country, was held. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the leadership of the Cinema Researchers Culture and Art Association; 428 documentaries and short films participated in the 1st International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival, which was organized in cooperation with Diyarbakır Governorship, Dicle University Rectorate, Istanbul Gelisim University Rectorate, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, General Directorate of Cinema, Industrial Enterprise Platform and Medya Arketip.
The festival and award ceremony held at Dicle University 15 July Culture and Congress Center brought film lovers together. The festival continued throughout 18-20 December.
Istanbul Gelisim University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan: ''Total of 428 film applications were received from 12 countries as a result of a 7-month study. Our 3-day festival will be closed with an award ceremony. We evaluated all the studies. We have shown the last 24 finalists at the festival for 3 days. We rewarded our directors with a total of 6 awards with the special award of Istanbul Gelisim University and the special award of Dicle University, which were given to the first 3 film owners."
Wishing for the continuation of the International Tigris Documentary and Short Film Festival, Öztürkcan also added the following: "There was a very intense participation in the festival. As a result of 7 months of work, we came here today. On this occasion, I would like to thank Dicle University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karakoç, Head of Radio, Television and Cinema Department, Faculty of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Akmese Demir and Istanbul Gelisim University lecturer Ahmet Bikiç for their contribution. It was a good project supported by our Ministry of Culture and Tourism. We want this festival to continue. Istanbul Gelisim University acts in line with sustainable development goals as a university that attaches great importance to sustainability and attaches importance to technological, social and artistic innovation. We are a university that is ready to cooperate in working to solve or improve all kinds of problems of humanity."
Lect. Ahmet Bikiç, 1st International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival Director and Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts Lecturer, said, "I have been a director at many festivals. But, for me, The 1st International Dicle Documentary and Short Film Festival was quite exciting as it was the first. We prepared very well for the festival. The reaction of the audience is also very good. Because we have very good guests. Obviously, audience was happy. We are even more excited for the second of this festival.”
