A Glance At The Policies Of Japan And Turkey On China

The Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, in collaboration with esteemed Japanese scholars and experts from various prestigious universities and institutes in Japan, organised a workshop titled “A Glance at the Policies of Japan and Turkey on China” on 14 July 2015 at the Rectorate Building of İstanbul Gelişim University.

Prior to the workshop, the Japanese scholars had a meeting with the Rector Prof. Dr. Burhan Aykaç and had the opportunity to discuss the higher education models in Turkey and Japan, as well as the research and development collaborations and further research initiatives. The participants of the workshop were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ragıp Kutay Karaca, Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatma Zeynep Özkurt and Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Akçadağ from İstanbul Gelişim University; along with Prof. Dr. Chihiro Kato from Doshisa University; Prof. Dr. Masaharu Hishida from Hosei University; Prof. Dr. Jianrong Zhu from Gakuen University; Prof. Dr. Taro Takiguchi Tokyo’s Woman Christian University and Michiko Kiyomia and Tatsura Hayashi from Iwanami Shoten.

The main objective of this workshop was to carry a thorough discussion among aforementioned scholars and experts on the relations between China, Japan and Turkey, aiming to bring their own experiences and scientific researches together and share their presentations and opinions with each other. In this sincere and well-spoken event, Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatma Zeynep Özkurt gave a concise overview on the foreign policy of Turkish Republic; followed by the presentation of Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Akçadağ on the development of relations between Japan and Turkey. After Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ragıp Kutay Karaca’s detailed presentation of China-Turkey relations, Prof. Dr. Masaharu Hishida presented his research on the relations between China and Japan in a concise way.

The workshop, where also Abdülkadir Gayretli, the Chairman of Board of Trustees of İstanbul Gelişim University attended, ended with corresponding questions, comments and annotations.
