The university is known for a peer mentor

The first evaluation meeting of the peer mentorship was made under the IGU Career Development Center (KAGEM) in Gelisim Tower. Vice Rector of IGU Prof. Dr. Nail Öztaş also attended the meeting and stated that they would always support the projects and ideas coming from the students.

Vice Rector of the University Prof. Dr. Nail Öztaş who expressed that the university administration values the mentor students, added: “The society and economy of the new world await different competencies from university graduates than the competencies that industrial society expects. It’s being transformed into a new higher education system where classrooms are removed, the standard program qualifications are replaced by more specialized competencies and students are introduced to. Peer mentoring is an implementation that teaches leadership skills, team acting and empathy skills. Our university administration will give full support to our mentors with its staff and resources. Student-centered education is the essence of our philosophy”

IMPROVED SENSE OF BELONGING

KAGEM Director Lect. Fırat Demirkol emphasizing that peer mentorship is a system based on the guidance of students to guide other friends in the department, said:

“Mentor students are ready for business life with trainings such as leadership, time management, quality, personal brand management, resume creation and interview techniques. Together with all these processes, they get skills such as team work, appeal to the community and the ability to organize. The peer mentor system, which raises the sense of belonging among the students, also enables other students to be aware of the administrative processes faster and to represent their ideas through mentors.”
