Berk Akgüneş nominated as the winner of Social Sustainability Award

The 'Design the Sustainable Future’ competition organized by Rönesans Holding for the fifth time this year was concluded. Approximately 650 students from 35 universities across Turkey participated in the contest. Student of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Berk Akgüneş, nominated as the winner of the Social Sustainability Award. Projects of 15 students in 10 branches were awarded, in the competition.

“Design a Sustainable Future” is a student opinion contest where land, natural resources are used in the most appropriate way, social life is based, mixed-use urban structures are developed and the principles of sustainability are developed. With the motto “The Future Begins Here”, the competition, which encourages students to develop projects on the concept of sustainability, aims to bring together different disciplines.

Under the main theme of the competition as "Green Building and Sustainability" the topic was determined as "Urban Interaction Center". Within the framework of this main theme, mixed projects developed in terms of architecture, engineering and social aspects were evaluated.

The winners of the projects evaluated in terms of different criteria such as sustainability, recycling, energy efficiency, urban development, innovative idea and detail solution, advanced production and waste management, visual design and social sustainability, are offered an internship and job interview at Rönesans Holding as well as the monetary award.
