Gelisim Film Academy Opens its Doors to Students

The Gelisim Film Academy, which was established by Istanbul Gelisim University with the vision of bringing art to society, opens its doors to students in Beypazarı, the historical district of Ankara, in June. Within the scope of the program prepared by Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts and Corporate Communication and Promotion Department, the project, which meets young people with interviews, panels, screenings and workshops to be organized, will explore our provinces with cinema potential.

In the project, which will be hosted by Beypazarı Municipality Directorate of Cultural Affairs and Beypazarı District Governorship, young participants will be given trainings in both technical and theoretical fields such as script, camera, light, sound and directing. At the same time, a versatile learning environment will be offered with topics such as intra-team communication, problem solving and creative process management. Documentary films, interviews and panels to be shot at the end of the project, which will last for about a month, will meet with the audience.

Lecturer Ahmet Bikiç, Workshop Coordinator of the project, said the following about the workshop process:
“This project offers an opportunity to share the unifying and transformative power of cinema with young people. It is a great pleasure for us to come together with young people and witness them produce their first short or documentary films. ”
“The project is developing not only technical knowledge, but also a culture of co-production and creative thinking skills. Opening up space for participants to tell their stories in the language of cinema contributes to both their artistic and personal development. The Gelisim Film Academy is a valuable starting point for young people to realize their talents and express themselves through cinema.”

Established by Istanbul Gelisim University, Gelisim Film Academy is a concrete reflection of our vision of making art accessible to everyone. The workshops that emerged with this academy are an important opportunity not only for young people interested in cinema, but also for everyone who wants to realize their own talents, gain self-confidence and be part of a creative production process.
The realization of this project in a region with historical and cultural depth such as Beypazarı is also very valuable in terms of bringing together local heritage and young generations. As Istanbul Gelisim University, we are proud to protect our cultural heritage."
