Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) added a new one to its activities emphasizing the importance of art and aesthetics and hosted the opening of the "Rhythm of Nature" themed exhibition of the painter Basri Erdem. The exhibition, which was organized within the Art and Design Application and Research Center (SATMER), attracted great attention from art lovers.
The power of art and the cornerstones of civilization
Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin made the opening speech and emphasized that art is a fundamental element for civilization and IGU is a university that prioritizes art. IGU see technical, social and artistic innovation as the three pillars of civilization, Prof. Bahri Şahin also drew attention to the vision of Istanbul Gelisim University in the field of art.
An original selection of 40 works
Prof. İsmet Çavuşoğlu was the curator of the exhibition. Prof. Çavuşoğlu drew attention to the depth and originality of Basri Erdem's art and made the following evaluation:
“The place is beautiful, the understanding is beautiful, everything is just perfect. Our artist has a very important personality. There are 40 works in the exhibition and most of them are oil paintings. This exhibition presents a very special selection that describes the rhythm of nature in the language of art.”
Speaking about his exhibition meeting with art lovers in different universities of Turkey, Basri Erdem drew attention to IGU's vision in the field of art and said:
“Our exhibition tours universities in Türkiye. There are very few universities with such a place. Some of the works exhibited here meet art lovers for the first time. For this reason, I would like to thank our Rector for his support. The civilization of a nation is measured by the works of art that nation possesses.”
Call for support for art
Vize Mayor Ercan Özalp, who attended the exhibition as a special invitation of Basri Erdem, emphasized the value of art for society and gave the following message:
“I am proud of Basri, one of our esteemed teachers trained by Kepirtepe Village Institute. We have to support art. Art is something special. Gift paintings to your loved ones. Because these works will hang on the walls for years and will never be forgotten.”
Continuing to support art and artists, Istanbul Gelisim University offered a unique experience to art lovers with its "The Rhythm of Nature" exhibition. The university will continue to make art an integral part of academic and social life by hosting art events in the future.
