According to the Impact Ratings 2026 results announced by Times Higher Education (THE), İstanbul Gelişim University (IGU) has continued its rise in sustainable development, adding another international achievement to its record. In the ranking prepared in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), IGU climbed from the 601–800 band it occupied last year to the 401–600 band, once again demonstrating its steady progress in sustainability performance, while also entering the top three among foundation universities in Türkiye.

A Noteworthy Achievement among Foundation Universities

In the THE Impact Ratings 2026 results, İstanbul Gelişim University officially confirmed its strong performance in sustainability by claiming first place in two categories and second place in three categories among foundation universities. The university ranked first among foundation universities in SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities and SDG 13, Climate Action, and placed second in SDG 4, Quality Education, SDG 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals. These results demonstrated that IGU's work across numerous areas, from education and environmental sustainability to social inclusivity and international collaboration, has found recognition on an international scale.

Among the World's Top 100 Universities in Three Different Categories

IGU also achieved noteworthy results in the world rankings. The university ranked 53rd worldwide in SDG 4, Quality Education, 56th in SDG 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, and 92nd in SDG 13, Climate Action, placing among the world's top 100 universities in three different categories.

A Strong Position in Sustainable Development

İstanbul Gelişim University placed in the 101–200 band worldwide in SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities, while placing in the 301–400 band in SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals. In the overall ranking, the university placed in the 401–600 band among the world's leading higher education institutions, continuing to make its work toward sustainable development goals visible on an international scale.
