İstanbul Gelişim University, which supports scientific output and international academic collaborations, continues to contribute to global academic discussions through the international events it organizes. Hosted by İstanbul Gelişim University, the 10th International Middle East Symposium under the theme "In Search of the Future" examined the Middle East's political, social, and economic challenges through multidimensional scientific approaches. The symposium, organized through a collaboration between İstanbul Gelişim University's Center for Political and Social Research (İGÜSAM) and MOKHA Center for Strategic Research, brought together academics and expert researchers from different countries.

Regional Challenges Discussed from a Scientific Perspective

At the symposium held on May 12, 2026, regional challenges that have long threatened stability in the Middle East — including occupations, terrorist activities, ethnic and sectarian conflicts, human rights violations, income inequality, and poverty — were assessed comprehensively.
In presentations by expert academics, solution proposals focused on peace, security, and stability for the region's future were examined, and a scientific discussion platform was established within the frameworks of different disciplines including history, political science, and international relations.

Academics and Expert Researchers Come Together at the Symposium

The academic coordination of the symposium, now in its tenth year, was carried out by IGU Chair of the Political Science and Public Administration Department Prof. Şenol Durgun, MOKHA Center for Strategic Research President Ateq Garallah, IGU Political Science and International Relations Department faculty member Dr. Emre Gündoğdu, MOKHA Turkish Studies Unit Head Moohialdin Mohammed Mohsen Saeed, and MOKHA member Abdulsalam Saeed Dawood Wahib.
Scientists and experts who attended from different countries presented different perspectives on the Middle East's future, drawing attention to the fact that sustainable peace is only possible through dialogue, cooperation, and inclusive policies.

A Scientific Contribution to the Future of the Middle East

While the scientific work produced at the well-attended symposium is expected to make an important impact in the academic world, the event is anticipated to continue in subsequent years with broader international participation.
