"Workshop on Sustainability in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language in the 21st Century” was held by Istanbul Gelisim University, Turkish and Foreign Language Application and Research Center. In the workshop consisting of two sessions, 8 commissions and 8 topics were discussed.
The first workshop was held in 2022, again organized by the Turkish and Foreign Language Application and Research Center, which was established to teach Turkish to foreign students coming from abroad to study in higher education institutions, to organize courses in foreign languages, and to work on necessary documentation and materials. At the workshop held on June 15, 2023, Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin and Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Güzel made their protocol speeches.

The workshop, which included 64 participants from 25 different universities from Turkey, consisted of two sessions, was based on 8 commissions and 8 topics. The following sub-topics were discussed at the workshop:
- Problems and solution proposals encountered in institutions where Turkish is taught as a foreign language,
- Problems encountered in the use of approaches, methods, techniques and suggestions for solutions,
- Problems encountered in preparing and using materials and suggestions for solutions,
- Problems and solution suggestions in teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking basic language skills in teaching Turkish as a foreign language,
- Problems and solutions in grammar teaching
It is aimed to make general evaluations from the workshop outputs, report them and present them to the relevant authorities.
